The Special Adviser, Bureau of Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Akwa Ibom State, Barr. Ekong Sampson has described the state Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel as a pace setter whose developmental strides are creating legacies that will earn Akwa Ibom a lasting positive spot at the national scene.

Barr. Sampson made the description, Friday, in Uyo, while addressing newsmen at his residence shortly after playing host to newly appointed Supervisors and Special Advisers for Mkpat Enin Local Government Council.

Applauding the governor’s spread of infrastructure across the state which he said, is an evident demonstration of his commitment to even development, Sampson noted that the governor s not only providing infrastructures, but also ensures every part of the state benefits from same.

“One outstanding thing about the governor’s developmental strides is that he is not only providing infrastructure, he also ensures every part of the state benefits from same. I believe this is one legacy Akwa Ibom State is taking to Nigeria. It is on good record that at a time the economy was on a tailspin, Governor Udom showed an uncommon management ability and a contentious devotion to bridge building to strengthen the pan Akwa Ibom fabric’, he said.

The governor’s political adviser also stressed that the spread of infrastructure and opportunity has brought down tensions and galvanized a huge support base for his boss, the governor throughout the length and breadth of the state, adding that this is one testimony the government of Udom Emmanuel is taking to the buildup to this year’s democracy day celebration which coincides with the governor’s three years in office.

Citing his Mkpat Enin area as insance, the former lawmaker said that the current Executive council of the area reflects the governor’s even spread of opportunity, as no clan has less than two representatives, which according to him, is better than the previous cases.

Speaking on the visit by the newly appointed members of the Mkpat Enin Council, Sampson said he was pleased with the selection, and further advised them on the importance of loyalty to the Chairman of Council and the state governor by extension, while also advising them to work with the stakeholders in their various wards and units to ensure a united and formidable force as preparations towards the 2019 general elections gear up.

He further hinted that the visit was timely, considering that the area has been in the news for negative reasons lately, and charged them to use their offices to promote unity and politics of decency, not minding the fact that the recent developments in the area are typically what characterizes political seasons like this, when desperate individuals rise to sow seeds of discord among the people for their own selfish interests.

Also speaking with newsmen, two of the appointees, Ekong Donald and Israel Silas who spoke on same tone were full of gratitude to Governor Udom Emmanuel for considering them worthy to serve in the council exco, while also appreciating the governor’s political adviser, as well as other political leaders in the area for their confidence and support to the younger generation which according to them, is opening up access to leadership opportunity for them and other youths.

Their words: “we came on a visit to our mentor and leader who hosted us to an appreciable satisfaction. He gave us words of wisdom, and same shall we abide by. We have taken his words and will use same to deliver on what is expected of us and the offices we hold, as well as work towards the reelection of His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel. With the advice he has given, there is no way we will not be able to deliver on our responsibilities.

“He has talked to us about loyalty to our chairman and the chairman can be sure of our loyalty and cordial working relationship. Once again, we convey our message of appreciation to the governor, especially for his shown interest and commitment to the local government administration and politics. And because he has chosen vibrant young men and women into the leadership fold of Mkpat Enin, we assure him of committed efforts on our part towards mobilising eligible voters towards the 2019 election.”
