UDOM INAUGURATES 5-MAN PROJECT VERIFICATION COMMITTEE

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State on Monday inaugurated a 5-man Project Verification Committee.

Ibom Telegraph was informed that the Committee, which would be headed by the State Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang, is saddled with the responsibility of verifying all the projects executed by the present administration since its inception in May 2015.

The Committee, according to our Government House source, “is to also compile all the projects executed by the present administration, the cost implications and the work done.”

Performing the inauguration at the State EXCO Chambers, Government House, Uyo, Governor Emmanuel charged all Heads of Ministries, Departments and Parastatals to partner with the Committee for accurate information to be gathered.

Member of the Committee included Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, Mr Effiong Essien, the Permanent Secretary, Governor’s office, Dr Nathaniel Adiakpan, State Accountant General, Pastor Uwem Andrew Essien and the Secretary, Finance and General Purpose Committee, Barrister Mrs Janet Nsemeke Daniel.

Governor Emmanuel further stated that “the verification exercise is in accordance to the principles of transparency and due process,” and charged the committee to submit its report on or before the 29th of May, 2019.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner for works, Ephraim Inyang, said that the task assigned them is enormous, but gave an assurance that with the caliber of members of the committee, they would deliver on schedule.

He expressed appreciation to the Governor for upholding the tenets of accountability in the administration of the state.

Mr. Inyang added that the Committee’s work will enable the people to have first hand information on the achievements of the administration.

Meanwhile, the State Governor has condoled and sympathized with the families of those who lost their lives during the heavy downpour at Atiku Abubakar Avenue, Uyo.

He attributed the mishap to electrocution resulting from fallen cables during the downpour.
