UDOM GIVES SUCCOUR TO WIDOW

Governor Udom Emmanuel has commissioned and presented a-two bedroom bungalow to a widow, Madam Nkoyo Okon Ukoh, in Oron Local Government Area of the state.
The bungalow, which is one of the structures built across the state for widows and under privileged persons by the wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, through her pet project, Family Empowerment and Re-Orientation Programme (FEYReP), was inaugurated by the State Governor to commemorate the one year anniversary of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Emmanuel expressed appreciation on the achievements recorded by FEYReP and said that the programme has rehabilitated and put smiles on the faces of the less pivileged members of the society.
The Governor, who commended his wife and Coordinators of the programme for touching the live of Madam Nkoyo Ukoh by providing her and her family with a modern edifice to ease her accommodation problem, urged all to contribute their quota towards improving the lives of the poor and needy.
He said that a ground breaking for a Dual Carriage Road from the Ibom International Airport to Oron Metropolis will commence soon and that the project is to be handled by Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC).
Governor Emmanuel also announced the construction of another Dual Carriage Road to link the gas harbour at Mbo Local Government Area, explaining that the contractor had since been mobilized to site and that the oil firm has discovered large quantity of gas in the area.
He commended youths of the area for the peace enjoyed in Oron and its environs and assured of his administration’s preparedness to attract more investment to the area to generate employment.
The Governor pointed out that with the level of peace enjoyed in the state more investors would come to Akwa Ibom to invest and that the development would generate income for the state and the community in which such project is located.
The wife of the Governor, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, said she was moved by the deplorable state of the building Madam Ukoh was living and decided to changed her circumstance to enable her live comfortably with her children.
She particularly thanked the Governor and other philanthropists for the support which she said has enabled FEYReP touch many lives.
The Deputy Speaker in the State House of Assembly, Princess Felicia Bassey, member representing Oro State Constituency, Mr. Emmanuel Bassey, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Victor Antai, Transition Committee Chairman Oron, Pastor Anthony Daniel, Chairman Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Governing Council, Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi, Community Leader Obong Samuel Onobo, in their goodwill messages expressed appreciation to the Governor’s Wife who has reached out to the area through her pet project and assured the Governor of their total support.
