TRADITIONAL RULERS OF OIL COMMUNITIES BACKS EKERE’S NOMINATION AS NDDC MD

Nsima ekere (4)
The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Traditional Rulers of Oil Producing Communities of Nigeria (TROMPCON) has backed the nomination of Mr. Nsima Ekere as the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The support was contained in a congratulatory message to Mr. Ekere and signed by Eteidung Samuel Effik, the Acting State Chairman of TROMPCON, Etebom Akpan Eno Akpan, the Clan Head of Nnung Ndem in ONNA Local Government Area and a former Vice Chairman of the group as well as Edidem Udo Joe Ntuk Obom, Edidem Ubong Peter Assam, Edidem Akpan Akpan Ekpene and Obong Etim Charles Daniel Abia, the Paramount Rulers of Ikot Abasi, Esit Eket, Mkpat Enin and Eket Local Government Areas, respectively.

The group said the nomination of Mr. Ekere, “our beloved son,” was a great honour to TROMPCON family, in particular, and Akwa Ibom State, in general.

It expressed confidence that the incoming NDDC Chief Executive would bring his wealth of experience and expertise to bear in his new assignment considering his pedigree and antecedent as a distinguished former Deputy Governor and an outstanding business guru.

Pledging its unflinching support to Mr. Ekere, the group prayed God to grant him the wisdom to surmount challenges in his new assignment.

It thanked President Buhari for creating a sense of belonging and fairness among the oil producing communities of Nigeria by appointing another Akwa Ibom indigene to complete the tenure of Barr. Bassey Dan-Abia who was removed from office in December 2015.

The group recalled the crucial role played by Akwa Ibom monarchs through the pioneer National Chairman of TROMPCON from the state in championing the establishment of NDDC after the collapse of the erstwhile Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC) and described Mr. Ekere’s nomination as one of the fruits of their labour.
