Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel for his commitment to the spiritual wellbeing of the state through yearly “rededication of the state to God.”
Rt. Hon. Bassey, who was in the company of his wife, Itohowo, made this known on Thursday at Ibom Hall, Uyo, during a one-day Solemn Assembly organized by the State Government to usher in year 2020.
He said the theme of the event, Divine Favour, taken from the Book of Exodus Chapter Three and Verse 21, was apt and “a clear indication that God is the foundation of the State. Our progress, growth, unity, harmony and peace are hinged on God. And only God has brought us this far.”
The Speaker further urged Akwa Ibom people not to relent in their prayers and support to Governor Emmanuel for the prosperity of the state.
The 2020 Solemn Assembly had the only Bible reading taken by Governor Udom Emmanuel and homily by the General Overseer of Christian Fellowship Evangelical, Rev Emem Simon Jacob.
The event also featured special ministration and renditions by Moses Bliss and Government House Divine Voices.
