Youth leaders across Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area have thrown their weights behind the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, in the forthcoming general elections.

The youth leaders made their stance known through a motion for the adoption of Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey as their sole candidate for the 2023 Senatorial Elections moved by the Ibiono Ibom Chapter Chairman of the Youth Caucus, Mr. Samuel Malachy Umoh, and seconded by the Ibiono Ibom Chapter Chairman of Dakadda Youth, Mr Victor Koffi.

The action, which was against the backdrop of speculations that Ibiono Ibom people will go contrary to the decision of the PDP in 2023, took place on Wednesday at the Osongoma residence of Rt. Hon. Bassey during a solidarity visit on him.

The youth leaders further assured that they will deploy all resources within their reach to ensure a landslide victory in 2023 for Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, who is currently serving as the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

Speaking, the leader of the delegation, Hon. Kokoette Akpan (Coach), explained that the youth leaders are concerned with electing the right person to lead the affairs of Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District in the Red Chambers of the National Assembly in 2023.

“It is very symbolic that you will take over the seat from Ibiono Ibom. Those that have represented us in the Senate over the years have done very well. And we know you will do better. You will do better because we have scrutinized and looked at your antecedence and our conclusion is that you have the most impressive, people-friendly agenda for the common people of the Senatorial District, specifically, the people of Ibiono Ibom,” Hon. Akpan maintained.

Others, who spoke including Mr. Alfred Ekong, Comfort Eyibio, and Hon. Charles Bassey, thanked the Speaker for the reception and promised to stand by him and other candidates of the PDP in the 2023 election for the progress of Ibiono Ibom and its people.

In his remarks, the Rt. Hon. Bassey that the youth leaders for the show of love, solidarity and avowed support.

He assured the youths of more democratic dividends when elected as a Senator to represent the Senatorial District in the Red Chamber.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Youth Matters, Comrade Aniefiok Iwaudofia, was highly represented at the event, which was moderated by Mr. Eyibio Victor.

Other members of the delegation included Victor Okon, Ettebong Odiong, Godwin (Goddy Poxe), Otuekong Etim, Essien Essien, Monday Akpan, Itoro Nyong, and Aniebiet John.
