The 6th Assembly of the Akwa Ibom State Legislature has been lauded for sustaining its commitment to promoting good governance in the State.
This was contained in a goodwill message issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political/Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson on behalf of his Bureau, to felicitate with Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on her celebration of 25 years of robust legislative engagements.
Barrister Ekong Sampson recalled that the sixth assembly, as previous sessions did, clearly defined its mission at inauguration in 2015, which had been to undertake legislative engagements in a manner that will promote good governance and build trust of the people of Akwa Ibom, Nigerians and the international community in the State Government.
The Bureau boss stated that the sixth assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. (Barr) Onofiok Luke has made the State proud by not deviating from the rich tradition of promoting good governance in Akwa Ibom through quality legislations.
The former two-term lawmaker described the legislature as a critical measure of a successful democracy and expressed appreciation for the huge support of the 6th assembly to the government of His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel which, he said, has earned Akwa Ibom State the respect of the rest of the country.
The Special Adviser commended the harmonious relationship between the Legislature and the Executive arm of government in Akwa Ibom State.
“I recall with pride my odyssey on the floor of the state assembly for eight years and my warm relationship with the sixth assembly and former members,” Barrister Ekong Sampson said, expressing confidence that the State House of Assembly will continue to promote trajectories of legislative engagement that will strengthen institutions, unite Akwa Ibom people and drive development in the State.
The Special Adviser restated the commitment of his Bureau to continuously promote the partnership and harmonious working relationship between the Executive and the Legislature, as a concrete framework for good governance.
Barrister Sampson wishes the Honourable Speaker, his colleagues and staff of the assembly a happy silver jubilee celebration.
