Governor Udom Emmanuel has received a pat on the back from the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for his outstanding infrastructural development embarked upon in the state even in the face of the prevailing economic crunch plaguing the country. .
National Secretary, Caretaker Committee of the Party, Senator Ben Obi, handed down the commendation during a courtesy call on Governor Udom Emmanuel at Government House, Uyo .
In his words “Akwa Ibom State has become outstanding as one of the states that have shown feasible democratic dividends thereby promoting the ideals of the party.”
Senator Obi eulogized Governor Emmanuel for flying the Party’s flag higher in the state saying “the party at the centre was highly delighted at the existing bond of unity among PDP faithful in the state.”
The National Secretary used the occasion to commiserate the Governor and people of the state over the tragic incidence of December 10th where Reigners Bible Church building collapsed killing 28 worshipers with others sustaining injuries.
He announced the demise of a frontline PDP stalwart and former Governor of Niger State Mr. A. A. Kure whom he described as one of the pillars of the party saying “the deceased in his life time had played prominent role in sustaining stability of the party and in the country.”
Senator Obi, on behalf of the Caretaker Committee, solicited Governor Emmanuel’s involvement in the reconciliation of aggrieved Party members to enable them come under one fold for attainment of enduring peace in the party noting that an opposition party that has been in power for sixteen years knows what it takes to move the country forward.
He urged PDP faithful in the state to remain resolute in their support to Governor Emmanuel’s led Administration.
The Governor in his response expressed appreciation to the PDP National Officers for the visit and the kind words given to him saying “the challenges which has become the lot of the Party at the centre is to make the PDP come out stronger to prove it strength and leadership capacity.”
Mr Emmanuel said of Akwa Ibom Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party as a united family assuring that thorny issues would be amicably resolved and all the factions will come under one fold to make the party more formidable.
