PDP CONGRESS: OKOBO STAKEHOLDERS UNITE FOR HITCH-FREE EXERCISE

pdpAs the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state is setting mechanism in motion to ensure a hitch-free ward, chapter and state congresses, commencing this month, all relevant Stakeholders in Okobo Local Government Area have unanimously resolved to remain resolute, focused and united to conduct the exercise in a manner that will produce acceptable and credible members of the party executive at various levels.

Making their collective position public, during an extra-ordinary stakeholders’ meeting, held at the premises of the Deputy Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Princess Felicia Bassey, this Monday, Speakers at the meeting, Princess Felicia Bassey who also double as the Congress Committee Chairman for Okobo, Chief Peter Linus Umoh, former Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and 2007 Class of House of Representatives Member, representing Oron Federal Constituency, Mr. Attah Okon Attah, Okobo Transition Committee Chairman, called on those who left the party to return and join hands with the governor to build the party.

Addressing a mammoth crowd of 10 stakeholders per ward drawn from the 10 wards of Okobo Local Government Area, the Deputy Speaker and leader of the local government area, Princess Felicia Bassey commended the Okobo Stakeholders for their firm decision and resolve to join hands with the leader of the party in the state, Governor Udom Emmanuel in conducting a credible congresses which must be acceptable by all the PDP family.

Princess Felicia Bassey charged Okobo people to continue to keep faith with the party and eschew politics of bitterness, character assassination and push him down syndrome. “I want to beseech you to remain resolute and committed to the tenets and fundamental rules and regulations governing our party. I urge you all to play today’s politics with a clean heart and with creative minds to rebuild the party for a robust and result-oriented outing in 2019. We must build an enduring structure that will accommodate men and women of proven integrity, good track record of service to the party and avoid unpatriotic characters who can easily throw away their integrity when hook winked with peanuts”, Princess Felicia enthused.
In their separate remarks, Chief Peter Linus Umoh, Mr. Attah Okon Attah, Barr. (Dr.) Effiong Osung, Comrade Kubra Uyah thanked Princess Felicia Bassey for always leading Okobo people on the path of truth, justice and fair play, and pledged to return to their various units and wards and massively mobilize their members for the forthcoming PDP Congresses.

They also promised to stand by the Deputy Speaker to produce genuine and faithful party men and women that will continue to fly the flag of the party in their respective villages.

During the meeting, Offi Ward 2 was represented by Chief Jerry Okpo and nine others, Offi Ward 1, by Princess Felicia Bassey and nine others, Ekeya Ward by Pastor Ekeng Abia and nine others, Akai Mbokpu Udung Ward was represented by Deacon Asuquo Koffi and nine others, Nung Atai Ube I represented by Chief Stephen Bassey and nine others, Okopedi Ward I represented by Chief Peter Linus Umoh and nine others, Nung Atai Ube 2 represented by Prince Ene Eyo and nine others, Eweme Ward 1 was represented by Chief Dr. Friday Atai, Barr. (Dr.) Effiong Osung and eight others while Eweme Ward II was represented by Raphael Anwanakak and nine others.

The stakeholders meeting attracted other personalities: Mr. Joseph Okon, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor/President Essu Nlap Oro, Special Assistants to the Governor, Mr. Ekpenyong Atte and Comrade Raphael Anwanakak, others included PDP State Officer, Mr. Chris Okon, PDP Chapter Secretary, Mr. Monday Umana, Barr. Emmanuel Isangidoho, Engr. Luke Emeh, Hon. Helina Andem, past and present political office holders of Okobo extraction, youth and women leaders among others. (Culled from The Sensor Newspaper).
