… Promises to Further Strides with Cargo Terminal, Export Free Zone
Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has applauded the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for his unwavering commitment to the developement of the state especially with the addition of two new Airbus A320 aircrafts to the fleet of Ibom Air.
Pastor Eno gave the commendation during the official reception of the two new aircrafts at the Victor Attah International Airport.
He remarked that Governor Emmanuel is visionary in his development approach which according to him, has repositioned the state in the comity of states in Nigeria and beyond.
In his words, “Your Excellency, we thank you graciously for the dream that you have had for Akwa Ibom, and not just dreaming, but for working so hard to bring the dream to realization that today we have an airline, an indigenous airline that takes us all around the country; and as business people, we could fly out of Akwa Ibom in the morning and fly back in the night. It is such a plus that goes beyond even the employment that it has created for our people. We thank you so much.
“Your Excellency, those who are wondering what you’ve done with Akwa Ibom’s money maybe they cannot see and they cannot read, they cannot understand that the very successful Ibom Airline is here, they can’t understand that the MRO is here. They cannot understand that the international wing of the airport is here. They can’t understand that the second runway is here. These are things you’ve done in the aviation industry alone” he said.
The PDP governorship candidate whose economic blue print focuses on furthering the developmental strides of the present administration noted that, “by the grace of God, we will connect the dots from where you have stopped, from next year, our dream is to ensure that we build on what you’ve done. We will build a cargo terminal so that when the regional flights commence, our people will be able to fly out our agricultural and other products.
“Your Excellency, we will strive to have an Export Free Zone here so that our people and other entrepreneurs can transact their business without too much taxes. It is clear in our mind that you have set a standard and we can only build upon what you’ve done and that is the principle of continuity.”
The colourful reception featured cultural display and performances by the brass band. It was attended by dignitaries from within and outside the state.
