Pastor Umo Eno Attributes Success In Lands Ministry to Teamwork

… As he Hands over Baton to New Commissioner

In a rare expression of leadership, the immediate past Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has formerly transferred the baton of administration to Captain Iniobong Ekong ( Rtd) who was recently sworn in as his successor.

In his remarks, Pastor Eno attributed the achievements recorded in the ministry to teamwork and cooperation of the staff and urged them to extend same and even more to the the new Commissioner.

He noted that within his one year at the helm of the ministry, it recorded different success stories including the succesful recovery of government lands, payment of compensations, flag off of both the Dakkada Luxury Estate and Emily Haven Estate by the Vice President of Nigeria and State Governor, Prof Yemi Osinbajo and Mr. Udom Emmanuel respectively.

Pastor Eno who said teamwork is the best attribute any organization can imbibe to succeed, thanked the staff for the support given him adding that the price they paid contributed to the success achieved in the ministry.

While congratulating the new commissioner on his appointment, he reminded him of the need  to pursue the completion agenda and succession plan of the governor, while pledging to always open his door for him for advice and assistance.

He said it was necessary to personally handover to the new Commissioner especially given that the Permanent Secretary was equally new in the ministry.

According to him, “though I left office about two weeks ago, and ordinarily, I would have dropped my handing over notes to the permanent secretary, the Permanent Secretary is also new. So for smooth transition, I had to come in to do the formal handing over as it is the tradition in the private sector.”

In his response, Capt. Ekong, while receiving the handing over notes, thanked his predecessor for his numerous achievements and assured everyone of his commitment to continuing from where he stopped.

The new Commissioner who said he will hit the ground running, solicited the cooperation of the management and staff to ensure the desired success.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Godwin Udoh, thanked Pastor Eno for his love to the workers during his stay in the ministry.

Udoh, who described Eno as a disciplined, articulate, detailed, simple, and committed leader, prayed God to keep him and grant him the enablement to achieve his aspiration

He welcomed the new commissioner, whom he described as a security expert and pledged the cooperation of everyone.

The handover was rounded off with the site inspection of projects under the ministry including the Emily Haven Estate and the Ewet Primary School, Ewet Offot.
