Principal Partner of Novone Consult Limited, Architect Ezekiel Nya-Etok, has reiterated his commitment towards making his brainchild project, the Federal Government Social Housing Scheme, second to none in the country.
Speaking with journalist in Uyo on Monday, he said the Social Housing Estate, with full onsite infrastructure, is the lowest in the country with complete landscaping, water reticulation, power and gas facilities for every unit.
“This Housing Estate is going to be one of the few Housing Estates in Nigeria where every infrastructure is finished before the next phase. Contract for the internal roads have been awarded and the work is ongoing. It is going to be secured with complete CCTV that will be controlled from Abuja through satellite,” he explained.
Speaking further, Arc Nya-Etok said “The Social Housing Estate is more strategic for us because it will beat Ewet Housing and other estates. The concept of the estate is an empowerment concept. One of the most exciting things about the estate is its landscaping. It is going to be an environment friendly estate.”
He assured that the first phase of the project will be completed and keys handed over to prospective owners by November 1, 2018.
“Powering the estate will be completed by the end of July. There will be no borehole. We have a company that will handle water with every housing unit properly metered. Each housing unit will have its cooking gas outlet because the gas will be centrally supplied. There will be an independent power company for the estate. We will have solar and electricity,” he added.
Architect Nya-Etok maintained that housing unit in the Social Housing Estate will be a highbrow property, saying “We are not building an estate where a poor man will come and live. We are building an estate where a poor man will be a house owner. Social housing is not a poor housing, it is a subsidized housing.”
Though he expressed dissatisfaction over the attitude and participation of civil servants in the project, Architect Nya-Etok said “I will make sure a minimum of 40% of the unit of houses are in this Estate are owned by civil servants in the state.”
