ORANGE SEPTEMBER: INTERPRETING UDOM’S VISION THROUGH THE CAMPAIGN – HON. ANTAI

To mark the 30th anniversary of the creation of Akwa Ibom, the State’s Ministry for Culture and Tourism has launched the #OrangeSeptember campaign.

Speaking to a section of the media on Monday, the Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Hon Victor Antai said Orange September is a series of events planned to position the state by showcasing the diverse and enigmatic colours of our collective history, unity in diversity and the depth and range of our indigenous entrepreneurship.

According to the Commissioner, “we are set to colour Nigeria and the World at large Orange and let them know that we are a great people with a unique cultural heritage. Akwa Ibom’s 30th anniversary is one in a lifetime and must be celebrated in style. Collectively, as Nigeria’s highest oil and gas producing State, we are celebrating our optimistic, sociable, hospitable, adventurous and industrious nature. We are simply interpreting Gov Udom’s vision with Orange September ”.

Hon Antai said the Orange September celebration will be a 6-day event of excitement and great fun wrapped around exhilarating and educative episodes that will showcase the diverse and enigmatic culture and tradition of our collective history.

According to Antai, Orange September will kick-off with the Orange Festival, a carnival at the Ibom Unity Park on September 16 showcasing the culture of Akwa ibom State, groups, troupes and floates.

Thereafter, a pictorial exhibition will hold at the Ibibio Union Museum on the 18th of September followed by “ Ndidia Nnyin”, a tasty display of our cuisines on the 19th of September. Ndidia Nnyin will hold at the Ibom Unity Park.

The Orange Music Fiesta featuring a glut of Akwa Ibom born musical stars will be on display at Ibom Hallon the 20th of September. Top Nigerian music stars like Timaya and Tecno will also be there to spice up the event.

A fashion show tagged “Styles of Akwa Ibom” will be staged at the Ibom Hall on the 21st of September while the icing on the cake will be a beauty pageant- “Ndoko Akwa Ibom” at the prestigious LeMetidien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort on the 22nd of September 2017.
