OFFOT EDGE OKU CLAN TO CLINCH UYO CHAIRMAN’S CUP

Offot Clan defeated Oku Clan two goals to nil to Clinch in the final of the 2023 edition of Uyo Chairman’s Cup played at the remodelled Uyo Township Stadium on Friday.

Inyene Dominic opened scoring for Offot on 22 minutes, before Nelson Inyang wrapped up the victory in the second half with a breath-taking effort.

In the third play offs decided earlier, Etoi clan pounced Ikono Clan five goals to one to claim the third price.

Speaking at the closing ceremonies, Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area an Sponsor of the Tournament, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, said the competition was organized to prepare players for the area ahead of the Governor’s cup which kicks off, Wednesday.

Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports and Chairman of Akwa United Football Club, Elder Paul Paul, who was special guest at the final, used the medium to advocate for more opportunities to be handed persons at the grassroots level to partake in sporting completions.

He thanked the Chairman for organizing the competition and charged his contemporaries to borrow a leaf.
