According to the traditional fathers, the supports have culminated in the emergence of their son, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, as Speaker of the House of Assembly.

They gave the commendation, Monday, when the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke visited the Paramount Ruler and members of Nsit Ubium TRC at his palace on a thank you visit.

Speaking, Edidem Etuk while welcoming the Speaker to his palace, thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel and the lawmakers for the confidence reposed in their son and pledged their loyalty and support to the government.

He thanked the Speaker for deeming it fit to return home and appreciate the royal fathers for standing by him during his election, and described the Speaker as their beloved son in whom they are well pleased.

The Monarchs who took time to offer pieces of advice to Rt. Hon Luke, made a case for youth empowerment, and drew the Speaker’s attention to the activities of sand dredgers in the area which he lamented were posing serious threat to the environment, and appealed to the Speaker to look into the matter with the view to putting a stop to it.

Other members of TRC who spoke glowingly about the Nsit Ubium lawmaker include the clan head of Ubium, Etteidung Ukpong Udo Ewa, Etteidung Andrew Moses Eesien, Etteidung Ette Etuk and a member of the advisory council, Dr. Aniefiok Edem. They appreciated the speaker for his generosity and love towards his people, saying they were satisfied with his representation in the assembly.

Earlier, the Speaker, Rt. Luke, told the royal fathers that he was in their palace to thank them for the love and solidarity they have shown him as their son and to the PDP family especially as exhibited during the last governorship election in the local government area.
He said it was proper that he acknowledged the role played by the chiefs of the area who in unison exactly one year ago, stood by his re-election bid, saying he remains eternally grateful to his people for their support.

The Speaker hinted that he will soon pay similar thank you visit to the women, youths and elders in the area.
He solicited their continuous support and prayers for the success of the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel, and the local government administration in the area. He said that the governor has emerged at a time that Akwa Ibom needed a man with great love for his people to pilot the affairs of the state.

High point of the ceremony was a prayer session by the royal fathers for the Speaker.
