Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), prestigious professional body of all qualified Public Relations practitioners in Nigeria, the largest in Africa, on Thursday, inducted ace journalist and Managing Editor of Ibom Telegraph, Mr. Darlington Udobong, and 107 others as members.
The institute, established in 1963 and made chartered by Decree No. 16 (Act of Parliament) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, conducted the induction ceremony at the Exhibition Center of Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Alausa, Ikeja.
Speaking, the President and Chairman of Council NIPR, Mallam Mukhtar Sirago, charged the newly inducted members to uphold the fundamental objectives of the institute, which includes to promote and develop the art and science of Public Relations practice in Nigeria; to establish, prescribe and ensure the observance of high standards of professional and ethical practice, amongst others.
Mallam Sirago informed the new members that professional Public Relations practitioners operate in every sphere of life in Nigeria including Commerce and Industry,Government, Community and Social Affairs, International Affairs, Charities, Public Interest and Healthcare establishment.
While taking the Oath of Allegiance, one of the new members, Mr. Udobong, who is also the Public Relations Officer of Olgette Projects Limited, promised to observe the highest standards in the practice of Public Relations and uphold the Code of the institution in totality.
He thanked the Management of Olgette Projects Limited for its unreserved support, which according to him, has invariably upped his professional career.
