Beyond the wide celebrations and acceptance of the candidature of Mr. Ekanem Brown as the Peoples Democratic Party’s Chairmanship candidate for the December 2nd, Local Government polls, his emergence has seemingly brought unity and peace to the hitherto factionalized PDP family in Mkpat Enin LGA.

This is evident in the speeches of government office holders and political gladiators from the area at the ongoing ward tour, embarked by the campaign team of the party.

So far, all the political stakeholders from the area have spoken in glowing terms in support of the candidature of Mr. Ekanem Brown and sue for peace, harmony and unity of purpose amongst the political class in the area.

Speaking at the campaign, the Special Adviser to the Governor, Bureau for Political/Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Rt. Hon. Barr. Ekong Sampson emphasized that things have changed in the political landscape of the area, insisting that the days of disharmony amongst political office holders from the Mkpat Enin are over.

In his words, “We will no longer have situations whereby the Local Government Chairman, House of Assembly member and Commissioner sing discordant tunes and aim at different directions, the trinity, which is the Chairman, the House Member and the Commissioner/Special Adviser are now together.

“The same applies to the Vice Chairman and the fourteen Councilors in PDP, everybody is now Mkpat Enin for Mkpat Enin. For the first time in a long while we sat down to do what I would describe as Mkpat Enin for Mkpat Enin. We moved together and elected Mr. Investor, a humble and intelligent young man that has what it takes to develop Mkpat Enin”.

Speaking also at Primary School, Ikot Obio Itong, and venue for the Ikpa Ibom Ward one, the Transition Committee Chairperson, Lady Ekaete Usip endorsed the candidature of Mr. Brown, describing him as God’s choice for the people of Mkpat Enin.

Mma Usip as she is fondly called said “many of us aspired to be the Executive Chairman but God has chosen Ekanem, all of us have to support him to succeed. That is what is done elsewhere; Mkpat Enin cannot be an exception. I told him that I am happy that God has chosen him and that I will stand by him. Ward one has never been in opposition, and will not begin now. On December 2nd all of us should come with our voters’ card and vote for the PDP which Ekanem Brown represents”.

Also Collaborating the Transition Chairman’s speech, the Member representing Mkpat Enin State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Otobong Ndem said that the PDP’s chairmanship candidate is a good choice judging from his entrepreneurial background. He expressed confidence that victory was assured as far as his Ikpa Ibom Ward one is concerned.

Barr Jerry Akpan who presented returnees from his ward, Ikpa Ibom ward three to the PDP and the campaign team also pledged to ensure what he described as ‘one hundred percent victory’ for Mr. Brown at the polls.

The campaigns train visited Ikpa Ibom wards one, two, three and four on its first day of the ward tour, and other clans and wards are also being visited as the four day tour progresses.
