MARKET COMPETITION: EMEMOBONG CHARGES AKBC ON ADAPTATIVE STRATEGIES  

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, has charged the state owned broadcasting corporation, AKBC, to initiate strategies that will enable compete favourably with other privately-owned Radio and Television stations.

 

Comrade Ememobong gave the charge on Thursday during a familiarization tour of the Corporation including the transmissitter at Ntak Inyang, as part of his ongoing familiarization visits of immediate Constituencies and Parastals of Ministry of Information and Strategy.

 

Barr Ini Ememobong said, time there was when AKBC held the monopoly of broadcasting in the state but with the new rave of multiplicity of broadcasting stations in the state, the state owned Broadcasting Corporation has to evolve new strategies to up the ante in its services to enable it compete favourably with other stations in the State.

 

He commended the Management and staff of AKBC for delivering so much within the environment and condition in which they operate disclosing that some of the equipment procured for the Corporation are being held up at the wharf due to COVID-19 and pledged Government’s intervention towards providing the Corporation with necessary equipment and a conducive working environment.

 

Earlier in a meeting with the Management of AKBC, the Director General, Pastor Anietie Ukpe had welcomed the Commissioner to the Corporation which he said is a familiar terrain and solicited for intervention to provide the staff with a Conducive environment to operate maximally.

 

Accompanying the Commissioner on the familiarization tour were the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Inyang Jameson and Directors.

 

The familiarization tour by the Commissioner continues with the aim of getting to terms with the workings of the Parastals, identifying their challenges and putting in place modalities towards providing an enabling environment for the workers maximum productivity.
