A leading House of Representatives aspirant from Ikono/INI Federal Constituency on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State, Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo (Macaire), has promised to vigorously pursue matters that will have positive impact on the lives of his constituents if given the mandate in 2019.
Obong Ukpong-Udo, who stated this recently via a telephone conversation with our reporter in Ikot Ekpene shortly after he led his supporters and stakeholders to consult the INI Local Government Chapter of the PDP, said his strong bond and love for the people of Ikono/INI Federal Constituency necessitated his aspiration for 2019, assuring that he will continuously sponsor people oriented bills.
He maintained that, though as a philanthropist and one that has the people’s goodwill, he will need the support and cooperation of the people of Ikono and INI Local Government Areas to achieve his goal.
“I cannot just begin to go out and start campaigning without consulting the elders and stakeholders of Ikono and INI Local Government Areas. I must let them know my plans and my manifestoes. I led my supporters and stakeholders to consult the people of INI Local Government Area as a mark of respect and honour to them,” he explained.
Obong Ukpong-Udo added by saying, “I am very loyal, humble and I have contributed to the society in my own way as a private businessman. I want to bring that private experience into politics. In am venturing into politics to represent the youths, the elderly, the women and the less privileged.”
“Youth development, community support and empowerment are part of my programmes for the people of my constituency. I promise to represent the people of Ikono/INI Federal Constituency very well and I will deliver all my promises, if given the mandate. The show of love, support and goodwill that I am getting everyday is very awesome,” he said.
Speaking further, Obong Ukpong-Udo advised youths of the federal constituency to shun violence and any other social vices as they go about canvassing support for him.
Obong Ukpong-Udo, who hails from Ikot Akpa Edet Village in Ndya Clan of Ikono Local Government Area, attended Presbyterian Primary School, EdemUrua/ Itu Andem in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area and later the Prestigious Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) and Senior Secondary Certificate (SSCE) respectively.
With his zeal for greatness and expedition to achieve his insatiable craving to attain an enviable height on the academic ranking and acquire more knowledge to magnify his horizon, he got admission into the University of Uyo to study Applied Chemistry and graduated in 1998, but as fate would have it, he was posted to Shell Petroleum Development Company for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps Scheme and laterto ABBSoimi Ltd, an Italian Oil and Gas Servicing Company
