Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the commencement of screening for aspirants to the forthcoming Local Government elections in the state.
A statement by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Borono Bassey said “The State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Udo Ekpenyong, has notified the public of the intention of the Party to reschedule the screening exercise for aspirants on the platform of our Party earlier slated to commence on Thursday, August 13, 2020, to Friday, August 14, 2020.”
According to the statement, “the exercise will be conducted on a Senatorial District arrangement at the PDP State Secretariat, Atan Offot, Uyo.”
“Eket Senatorial District (For Chairmanship and Councillorship aspirants) is scheduled for Friday, August 14, 2020, by 10am- 2pm. Uyo Senatorial District (For Chairmanship and Councillorship aspirants) follows the same day by 2pm – 10pm. Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District (For Chairmanship and Councillorship aspirants) is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2020, by 10am,” the statement stated.
“The Appeal Panel will sit on Monday, August 17, 2020, from 10am 5pm at the Party Secretariat Complex at Atan Offot, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. All aspirants must appear for the screening with Original copies of all their academic credentials including current Tax Clearance Certificate, evidence of Party Membership Permanent Voters Card (PVC), and original receipt of payment for Nomination Forms.”
The statement further cautioned that in order to adhere to the subsisting safety precautions against the COVID-19 Pandemic, “only Chairmanship and Councillorship aspirants billed for screening will be allowed access to the venue.
Members of the screening panel and aspirants are expected to properly adorn themselves with face masks before entering the venue.”
