The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed its readiness for the forthcoming Local Government Election by inaugurating steering committees across the 10 Federal Constituencies of the state to mobilize and advise its members towards a successful poll in November.
Addressing journalists at the State Secretariat of the party, the State Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, said the move by the party was to put to rest the misinformation and anxiety expressed by its members regarding the deadline given by the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC).
According to Obong Ekpo, the State Chapter of the party has put up a mechanism that will make all its flag-bearers second to none in both Chairmanship and Councillorship.
Whereas the federal Constituencies inaugurated by the state Executives of the party included Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika, Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara, Ikono/INI, Uknfun/Oruk Anam, Ikot Abasi, Eket, Oron, Itu/Ibiono, Etinan and Uyo, activities for the Local Government Election is scheduled to commence by September 8, with sales of forms.
