LG POLL: “MY LEADERSHIP WILL REVOLVE AROUND FOUR-WAY ROTARY TEST” – EMMANUEL AMOS

The PDP Eket Chairmanship aspirant, Hon. Emmanuel Amos says his leadership will revolve around the four-way tests of Rotary Club.

The four-way Rotary tests as described by the Rotarian which his leadership will be driven by are; Is it the truth?; Is it fair to all concerns?; Will it build good will and better friendship?; and Will it be beneficial to all concern?

The Eket LGA Chairmanship hopeful disclosed this during the ongoing Conference of Online Publishers Akwa Ibom State (COOPA) Grassroot Leadership Chat Series, Monday.

He also said having spent more than 27 years working closely with the elders and leaders of the area, he is versed with the challenges in the area and hope to change the narrative if given the opportunity to serve the people in the capacity of a Chairman at that tier of Government.

“I am the best aspirant amongst the eights aspirants in the Chairmanship contest in Eket LGA. This is because in the past 27 years I have been working closely with the Elders and Government in Eket LGA. So I know the problem of Eket LGA.”

The aspirant, Emmanuel Amos promised to use his leadership to ensure that the youth are gainfully employed by maximizing the local content of contract agreement of oil companies.

He said when the youth are gainfully employed, cultism and restiveness will be reduced.

“If you empower the youth, you will stop so many young persons from associating themselves with cultism because they will be integrated into the social contract and local content established by the Government and companies operating in the city of Eket.”

On politics of traditional oath-taking, the Chairmanship aspirant said he is one of the persons who preached against cultism and oath-taking.

“Emmanuel Amos is one person who does not believe in oath taking and I don’t practice it.”

On the environmental issues of the area, the aspirant promised to give a facelift to Eket by ensuring a collaboration with the waste management body to see that refuse are properly evacuated in the area. Proper desilting of waste from gutters; leaving no lunatic to roam the street; and proper rehabilitation of the Hausa business men who have reduced the face of the Marina area which suppose to be a Government Reserved Area.

Furthermore, it is the aim of the Chairmanship hopeful to work towards the completion of the 5,000 capacity unity hall initiated by the leadership of Hon. Frank Archibong.

He said a legislation will be initiated to control waste disposal and management in the area.

Also, Hon. Emmanuel Amos said his leadership will preach peace as he will collaborate with his Ibeno counterpart to curb the seeming relationship gap between the two sister LGAs.

The three geopolitical zones in the area; Urban, Okon and Central Eket will be given sense of belonging as the tools of unity, fairplay and justice will be employed in policies and programs of the Emmanuel Amos -led administration.

However, the Chairmanship hopeful said he is favoured by zoning as he is from Eket Central.

“I am from Eket Central, so I am favoured by zoning. I believe in God who gives power and through the people who believe in my blue print.”

He said he does not believe in godfatherism but on God who gives power which is why he tagged his campaign slogan ‘In God we Trust.’
