JUSTICE, NOT INTRIGUES WILL DETERMINE BASSEY ALBERT’S APPEAL

The Peoples Democratic Party Akwa Ibom State Chapter is insistent that justice will be the foundation for the determination of the Appeal by Sen. Bassey Albert against the judgement of the federal high court sitting in uyo.
Speaking on Thursday, the Publicity Secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Comrade Ini Ememobong, said “No amount of intrigues employed by persons with a rich history of mandate kidnapping will help in any way.”

“Today the Appellate court sitting in calabar expressed shock that a matter previously adjourned to 11th October could miraculously appear on their cause list,” he said.
Commenting on the event, O.B Akpan Esq, counsel to senator Bassey Albert said that the development was strange and indicative of the degree of desperation employed by those seeking to armtwist justice. He informed that the court has again adjourned the Appeal to 11th October for Motion.

It can be recalled that in 2014 the PDP held nominations to select her senatorial candidate at the uyo township stadium. At the conclusion of that process Obong Bassey Albert emerged the winner. Hon. Bassey Etim challenged the victory at the federal high uyo and obtained judgement in his favour. The incumbent senator dissatisfied with the judgement, entered an appeal at the court of appeal, where the matter is still pending.

Senator Bassey Albert remains the representative of uyo senatorial district in the national assembly.
