The chairman of Ikono Local Government Council, Akparawa Hon. Itoro Columba has inaugurated an adhoc committee for the recovery of all government assets, buildings and hectares of land that were unlawfully seized by individuals or group of persons in Ikono Local Government Area.
The council boss made this known today during an inauguration of the committee headed by Vice Chairman, Ikono Local Government Council, Hon. Prince Etokobong, that at the moment, the land has been bastardized by some unpatriotic indigenes of the community who rather ventured into the business of taking properties solely meant for government appropriation.
This took place today in his office at Ikono Local Government Headquarters, Ibiaku Ntok Okpo with 10 members saddled with the sole responsibility of identifying, recovering and returning all properties belonging to the Local Government utilized by members of the society within the space of 30 days.
Before the advent of Itoro Columba led administration, a few indigenes of the community wrongfully took possession, optimally used and unlawfully claimed so many government buildings while leasing some out in their names as landlords against legal understanding of effect such indiscrimnate actions could cause the cradle land and our local economy in hard times like now.
The chairman with members of the committee also carried out familiarity inspection on some of the seized buildings located around the affected area such as, LOW COST HOUSING ESTATE, Ibiaku Ntok Okpo.
