IKOT OKPUDO UBIUM MOURNS DR JOSEPH IBIOK

The great Ibiok family of Ikot Okpudo Ubium in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has expressed sadness over the death of their leader, father and patriarch, late Dr Joseph Frank Dickson Ibiok, who passed on recently in the United States of America at the age of 70.
A tribute by the nephew, a former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok, recalled with pride and nostalgia the remarkable professional career of the deceased which started in Eket and culminated at the JAEG Bright Medical Services, where he co-directed until his death.
The tribute, ‘And The Eagle Soar’, also eulogized the late Dr Ibiok as a thoroughbred administrator, business mogul and an academic that contributed to the development of the society.
“A proud Ubium son whose milk of kindness transcends his family community and Country Nigeria; a thoroughbred gentleman, a colossus of note, a disciplinarian who sought the good of all, a benefactor who sacrificed his all to give me a future and reason to live. I hold you in awe, even in your immortal sleep. While as a soldier then in foreign climes in defense of the helpless ones as duty called, I recall with pride, echoes of your prayerful words assuring my safety even as tempest rage,” the tribute stated.
The former Commissioner, who also described the deceased as a selfless servant, said the funeral service will be conducted by United Evangelical Church (Qua Iboe Church) on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Primary School Grounds, Ikot Okpudo Ubium, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, by 11a.m prompt.
A statement signed by the former Commissioner cordially invites the entire people of Akwa Ibom “to the celebration of profound memory and legacies of our great icon.”
