… Registered Over 160 Golfer Across Nigeria

Captain of the Ibom Golf and Country Club, Barrister Usenobong Akpabio, has said over 160 golfers across Nigeria including President of the Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and former Senate President, Senator David Mark,  will featured in the Udom Victory Tournament, which is aimed at showcasing Akwa Ibom to the world.

Barrister Akpabio, who hinted journalists on Wednesday at Ibom Hotel and Golf Resorts, said the Vice Chairman of Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), Mr. Udom Inoyo; Otunba Olusegun Runsewe of the National Council of Arts and Culture (NCAC); Board Member of the Nigeria Golf Federation, Dr. Awa Ibraheem; President of the Ikeja Golf Club, Board of Trustees, Gen IBM Haruna rtd.; the BoT chairman, IBB International Golf and Country Club; the Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong; members of Lamingo Golf Club and Rayfield Golf Club, the Governor-elect of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde; and members of Ibadan Golf Club, as well as the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, are also expected at the tournament billed to kickoff on Saturday, May 25, 2019.

He stressed that the event “is part of the celebration to mark the landslide victory of Governor Udom Emmanuel at the polls and the enormous tourism potential embedded in the state. This Golf Course started with two playable holes but as we speak, it has been upgraded to 18 holes. It is the best in Nigeria and West Africa. It can host any Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) tournament.”


According to the Captain of the Club, the inaugural tee off for the tournament will be done by Governor Udom Emmanuel and the categories include 0-9; 10-16; 17-22; 23-28 Handicap; Ladies and Veterans.

The expected prizes in the tournament include Nearest to Pin, Longest Drive and the Governor’s Cup.

Barrister Akpabio was flanked by Lady Captain of the Club, Mrs. Ndifreke Ukocho; Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Sammy Ekpenyong; General Manager, Ibom Hotel & Golf Resorts, Mr. Ronald Stilting; Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA), Prince Enobong Uwah, and the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Club, Mr. Isuamfon Archibong, during the chat with journalists.
