… As Ritualists, Robbers Waste Victims
A young man in his early twenty’s has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command after he reportedly carried out money making ritual in his family compound of Aka Etinan Road, Uyo. An eye witness who spoke to our Reporter at the scene where the man was seen digging up buried items said the young man had just been given money to begin a business.
A family member who refused to speak on record however said a statement would be issued on the matter soon.
Our correspondent reports that one of the rooms in the compound which also housed a church was littered with remnants of broken eggs and a burnt calabash with remnants of one thousand naira notes and other bits of Items that could not be identified some neighbours who spoke on the issue said that the young man’s actions was not unconnected with the present economic situation experienced in the country when some persons have resorted to doing all manner of things illegally to stay alive.
In a related development Uyo the capital of Akwa Ibom has recently turned into robbers’ zone as young men have decided to take the laws in their hands. The robbers target is said to be exotic cars.
The city of Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom has in recent time been ravaged by arm robbers who specialize in car theft.
The media has received several complaints from citizens residing in different parts of the city about cases of attack on them and their loved ones.
A resident of Ebong Essien street, Mr Ene Ekanem lamented that the robbers operating in the area were terrorizing the neighbourhood and residents have lost various valuables which include Mobile phone, Laptops, Handbags and other important belongings to these hoodlums.
Early in March, the Nigeria Police Force recovered two stolen vehicles stolen by the robbers near Uyo Township Stadium.
The most recent occurred at Ewet Housing Estate where motorists complained of stolen batteries.
While lodging her report, one Tina from Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of the state called on the Akwa Ibom State Police Command to beef up security at entry and exit routes, as report has it that the perpetrators of such crimes are visitors from nearby state.
