His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel has assured councillorship aspirants in the recent local government primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State of accommodation of their various interests in the programmes of the party and government in the State.
The Special Adviser to Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Political/Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Barrister Ekong Sampson gave the assurance while addressing a gathering of councillorship aspirants across the State, in Uyo.
The Special Adviser said the Governor and leader of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, remains committed to the political inclusion component of his administration’s 5-point agenda, adding that the government will continue to hold meetings with members of the political class so as to strengthen the fabrics of unity in the State.
Barrister Ekong Sampson commended the aspirants for remaining steadfast in their support for the PDP and Governor Emmanuel’s administration despite the outcome of the party primaries and conveyed to the party faithful, Government appreciation for their contributions of the party, especially at the grassroots.
The Akwa Ibom State Political Affairs helmsman averred that the infrastructure and investments which the government is providing in the State are designed to build a great future for Akwa Ibom people. That, he explained, is why the State Government is working hard to diversify economy and position Akwa Ibom State for enduring prosperity.
Barrister Sampson therefore enjoined the councillorship aspirants to join hands to build the PDP in Akwa Ibom State. He charged them to take active part in campaigns for the forthcoming local government elections and ensure the PDP leadership in the State is maintained.
The Special Adviser assured the aspirants of Government’s attention to their concerns, promising that efforts will be made to appropriately address issues raised.
Speaking on behalf of the aspirants, Ulap Bassey Bassey, Edima Martins and Ndifreke Effiong, in different speeches, thanked the leader of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State, Governor Udom Emmanuel, for the platform to showcase their political aspirations and for his efforts to stabilize the system.
They thanked the Governor’s Special Adviser on Political Affairs for identifying with the aspirants and pledged to remain faithful to the party and to support the State Government.
