Eminent Akwa Ibom politicians under the aegis of G-22 have put to rest their stand in the political development of the state by throwing their full weight behind the incumbent Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel.

G-22, made up of aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2014 gubernatorial primaries had left people speculating their possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) following their long drawn silence.

But in a move that has surprised the most ardent critic, the former aspirants storm the Hilltop Mansion seat of government to pledge their support and loyalty to the administration of Mr. Emmanuel.

Speaking through Barr Ekpenyong Ntekim, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, the G-22 members said since it was not possible for all of them to emerge as governor, it was only logical for them to support the governor to succeed.

He said the PDP remains a family and tradition in Akwa Ibom State and they had no intention of jumping ship to any other party and reiterated the desire of the group to work with the Governor as a family in the interest of the state.

Assam, a former Ambassador of Nigeria to Russia and Belarus, lamented that the ruling All Progressives Congress has disappointed Nigerians by failing to fulfill its campaign promises to the people.

Governor Emmanuel declared his commitment to the Akwa Ibom project, and commended the team for their support.
