The last is yet to be heard involving issues between some Council Chairmen, Aides and the legislature at that level as the recent is a petition to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly from Supervisors who were sacked by the Chairman of Esit Eket, Mr. Iniobong Robson.

The petition dated 11th May and addressed to the Chairman House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs described the Council Chairman as running the Council against the provisions of the Local Government Administration Law through disbursement of inappropriate funds, non disclosure of accrued monthly allocation, failure to constitute Statutory Committees among other issues.

The Petitioners alleged that Hon. Iniobong Robson sacked them as they were against his second term ambition which will truncate the zoning arrangement. “But our impersonal advice earned us the Chairman hatred and avowed determination to deal with us which finally led to his unlawful sacking of all of us even against the promise of His Excellency assuring us that all elected officers and appointees of the LG Councils will enjoy the rights and privileges of serving the mandatory three years”.

They called on the Assembly to undertake a thorough investigation I to the records and activities of the Council with a view to ensuring accountability as probity in governance their reinstatement and payment of their deserving entitlements as a mark of instilling the reward system of the Party.

When contacted on phone, the Council Chairman who replied through SMS said that since it was a petition, he was sure that the House of Assembly counting on their integrity will so justice to it by conducting a thorough and unbiased investigation on the issues raised by the Petitioners.
