Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Entrepreneurial Development, Mrs. Meflyn Anwana, has lauded the commitment and dedication of the Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey Youth Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (RHAB-YESS) to the development of young entrepreneurs in Akwa Ibom State.

Mrs. Anwana, who gave the remarks at the Conference Room of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on Wednesday during an interactive session with winners of the August and September (7th and 8th) editions of the scheme, commended the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, for his commitment to Governor Udom Emmanuel’s enterprise development drive and the development of Akwa Ibom youths.

While charging the participants on how to make prudent use of the prize money, Mrs. Anwana said “Entrepreneurship remains one of the key economic variables that serve as a catalyst for the growth of any economy.”

“Entrepreneurship is a critical sector of our economy and that if we must develop and grow as a state, we must not only raise entrepreneurs in different fields, train and coach them, build innovation clusters for cross sectoral collaborations and access to market, engage in business development and community outreaches, enable business linkages across sectors, drive social investments for societal advancement, and enable exchanges with venture capitalists. We must also encourage them to ensure global best practices in order for them to scale their businesses,” she said.

Speaking further, she said “The government of Governor Udom Emmanuel is focused on growing and diversifying the economy of our state and you as entrepreneurs are critical partners in this project. This is why there is a positive zealous drive in promoting and driving entrepreneurship in the state especially in the post-covid-19 era. Akwa Ibom entrepreneurs are hardworking and industrious people and I am confident that this support from RHAB-YESS will spur you to put more effort and strengthen your resolve in building your businesses.”

In his remarks, the sponsor of the scheme, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, said “the scheme is aimed at discovering, mentoring and supporting young entrepreneurs to financial greatness. It completely complements Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Enterprise Development Drive.”
