A former Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Nduese Essien has lost his elder brother, Elder Essien Essien, who passed on at the age of 77.
Late Elder Essien, a major player in the development of the hospitality industry in Nigeria was the founding Managing Director of Pentagon Restaurant, which is noted for its pioneering role in the introduction of computer automated process in its services as far back as the late eighties and early nineties.
A statement from the family and signed by Chief Nduese Essien, indicates that the remains of the late septuagenarian will be laid to rest on Saturday June 16,2018 following a funeral service to be conducted by the Christ Embassy at St Paul’s Lutheran School, Ikot Ibiok, Eket.
Accordingly, the mourning house is to be opened at the Hilltop Mansion of the deceased in Nta Isip, Ikot Ibiok, Eket on Wednesday June 13 while a Service of Songs comes up on Friday June June 15, 2018 at the Christ Embassy, Mkpok, opposite Mobil Airstrip along Eket-Oron Road, Eket.
Before venturing into private business, Elder Essien who finished from the University of Agriculture, Umudike, now in Abia State, had acquired a Senior School Certificate from Etinan Institute, Etinan.
He first started his professional career as a banker with the Barclays Bank before transferring his services to the defunct Mercantile Bank, rising to the position of a Branch Manager in Lagos.
Elder Essien is survived by three children, Richard, Victor and Mrs Dinah Adegboye, seven grandchildren, his elder sister and numerous other relatives.
