Chieftains of the Divine Mandate in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area have lauded Barr. Ekong Sampson, Honourable Commissioner for Economic Development, Labour and Manpower Planing, for carrying along various political interests in the LGA.
The stakeholders who spoke in Uyo at a meeting of Divine Mandate and some Mkpat Enin stakeholders to assess preparations for 2019, commended the Hon. Commissioner for making moves to heal wounds and reposition the PDP in the area for next year’s elections and restated their support for the party. The meeting was convened by Barrister Ekong Sampson.
Divine Mandate is the pivotal organisation for Governor Udom Emmanuel’s re-election. The Hon. Commissioner doubles as the coordinator of Divine Mandate in Mkpat Enin LGA.
All the Divine Mandate coordinators in the area were in attendant as well as stakeholders in the Mkpat Enin polity. Among the stakeholders who attended the meeting were the Council Chairman, Hon. Ekanem Brown, Mkpat Enin Chapter Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Anietie Sunday, Barr. Jerry Akpan, Akparawa Udo Sam Umotan, former Chapter Chairmen, Friday Ayara and Nkereuwem Akai, Hon. Christian Jumbo, Leader of Mkpat Enin Legislative Council and many other frontline politicians of Mkpat Enin extraction.
The Council Chairman, Mr. Ekanem Brown, commended Mkpat Enin people for keeping faith with the PDP and urged the Divine Mandate coordinators to continue to take Governor Udom Emmanuel’s campaign to all nooks and crannies of the LGA.
The PDP Chapter Chairman, Hon. Anietie Sunday, revealed that a process will soon be put in place to handle interests aggrieved in the last party primaries. Barr, Jerry Akpan also urged the people to continue to maintain their support for the PDP, while Odudu Samuel (Ikpa Ikono), Aniedi Ekanem (Ukpum Minya), Christian Jumbo (Ibiaku) and Chief Friday Ayara (Ikpa Ibom), all praised Ekong Sampson for rallying stakeholders to continue to work for the PDP and Governor Udom Emmanuel.
The meeting agreed to undertake sensitization campaigns in Mkpat Enin for the PDP.
In his remarks, Ekong Sampson said the PDP cannot afford to be like a football team that weakens itself through avoidable injuries during training before a crucial football match. He called for unity within the ranks and files of the PDP in Mkpat Enin and Akwa Ibom State, so that the party can position well before the 2019 elections.
Barrister Sampson said the Mkpat Enin remains a strong base of the PDP and assured that concerns that would strengthen the party in the LGA would be looked into appropriately.
