COVID-19 PALLIATIVE: GOVERNOR EMMANUEL REACHES OUT TO 10 WARDS IN IBENO

 

To ameliorate the unpleasant economic consequences of COVID-19 pandemic on the people of Ibeno Local Government Area due to the enforcement of Akwa Ibom State Quarantine and Restriction of Movement Act 2020, Governor Udom Emmanuel, has disbursed food items as relief materials to 10 Wards, comprising 26 villages, in the area.

Represented by the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, Governor Emmanuel, who made the disbursement in Upenekang on Thursday through the Local Government Committee for Disbursement of COVID-19 Relief Material, urged members of the Committee to be unbiased in the distribution of the items.

He further appealed to members of the Committee to ensure that the items are shared at the Village Squares to the poor and vulnerable in the area, stressing that “the items must be distributed to all and sundry irrespective of their political affiliations.”

Members of the Disbursement Committee included Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh (Chairman); Paramount Ruler of Ibeno, HRM Owong (Dr) Effiong Archianga; member representing Ibeno in the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh; Council Chairman, Hon. Ifum Henry; Chairman of Ethical and Attitudinal Re-Orientation Commission, Dr Dorothy Thompson; Apostle Samuel Eka; Mrs Grace Ekpe; Ibeno Coordinator of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Jonathan Etia, and President of Youth Council, Samuel Akpan.

The Committee was further sub-divided into Village Palliative Committee with Village Coordinator, Village Head or his representative, CAN representative, One Elder, all the Village Youth Presidents, Two Women representative and a representative of the physically challenged as its membership.

The items disbursed to the 10 Wards included bags of rice, garri, beans and flour.

The event was witnessed by the Vice Chairman of Council, Hon. Sunday Isokobo; former Transition Chairman, Chief Henry Mkpa; all the Councillors, youth leaders among others.
