BUHARI’S SECOND TERM DECLARATION: AN AFFRONT ON COMMONSENSE, CHALLENGE TO LOGICAL REASONING  – EMEMOBONG

As Nigerians continue to react to the recent declaration by President Muhammadu Buhari to run for a second term in office, the Akwa Ibom State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Comrade Ini Ememobong, has been described the action as an affront to commonsense and a challenge to logical reasoning.

A release made available to newsmen by the Akwa Ibom PDP spokesperson read, “The President’s declaration is an affront on commonsense and a challenge to logical reasoning. For a man who has severally confessed that he wished he had returned to power a bid younger and further conceded that his age has negatively affected his delivery in the last three years to seek a second term is a clear testimony to the adhesive nature of power, once politicians embrace it, they become glued to it.”

Comrade Ememobong further said that “the time where Nigerians were reluctant to fully take part in the election processes is long over .”

“The level of political awareness now in Nigeria is far better than before. Nigerians are poised to make the return of an aged man to Aso Rock unsuccessful in 2019. They do not want their development and progress to be impede continually by man with a glaring failure in all areas of our economy,” he stressed.

The release concluded by saying “the message Nigerians have for the President is simple: we will detach you from power and grant you a very needed and necessary retirement.”
