Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties, Mr. Akan Okon, has charged media practitioners to be true to the tenets and ethics their profession for the development and progress of Akwa Ibom State.

Mr. Okon, who gave the charge on Wednesday when media practitioners from Itu Local Government Area visited him at his Ewet Housing Estate residence, called for partnership and collaboration in the governance of the state “through what you write.”

“You must support Governor Udom Emmanuel and help his administration succeed. Be constructive in your write-ups,” Mr. Okon stressed.

He urged them to carry out their duties without sentiments and maintained that Itu Local Government Area would attain greater heights when issues are addressed passionately and critically.

“Let’s join hands together and build Itu Local Government Area. We are not where we are supposed to be, but I believe with reawakening, we can achieve the best. Life is all about relationship, no matter what you have attained in life, if you are not of service to your people, you have done nothing. So, we must value relationship,” he added.

He described himself as an accessible man who takes delight in helping others, saying he has played by the rules since his emergence in politics.

Speaking, the Leader of the delegation and Publisher of Century Newsfront, Comrade Saviour Ekpe, lauded the Housing and Special Duties Commissioner, saying “Your contribution has added immensely to the success story of the Udom Emmanuel’s administration. Your humane disposition as the then Finance Commissioner has also distinguished you as a reputable leader in Itu Local Government Area and Akwa Ibom State at large.”

Comrade Ekpe informed Mr. Okon that they were at his residence to declare their support for the Governor’s second term aspiration and to also solicit for close partnership with the Commissioner.

Also speaking, General Manager, Uniuyo Fm, Pastor Idy James, expressed the group’s readiness to continually contribute to the development of the State through quality reportage.
