By Nsidibe AKPAN

The National Union of Banks, Insurance Financial Institution of Employees (NUBIFIE) has accused Akwa Ibom State Government of outright negligence and insensitivity toward the welfare of its members in Akwa Savings and Loans Limited and launched a state-wide protest against the non-payment of their salaries and allowances for the past two years.

Leading the protest today (Monday, August 26, 2019) is the Akwa Ibom State Chairperson of the Union, Comrade Bassey Mbede.
According to him, staff members of the financial institution have been surviving on recoveries which they have been able to make.

Comrade Mbede further stated that they have been receiving five thousand naira (N5,000) as welfare in the last two years.
