Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obong Paul Ekpo, on Tuesday, led 31 Chapter Chairmen of the party on an unscheduled visit to Qua Iboe Church Leprosy Hospital, Ekpene Obom, Etinan Local Government Area.

At the hospital, Obong Ekpo who told the inmates that the visit was unscheduled and conceived when Chapter Chairmen of the party paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in appreciation to Governor Udom Emmanuel’s kind gesture to the party and for the donation of 31 brand new buses to them, encouraged the inmates not to see their plight as the end of life but be strengthened by the fact that there is ability in every disability.

Responding, the Medical Superintendent of the centre, Mrs Theresa Umoidem, thanked the party for the charitable gesture.

While appealing to the party to look into the spate of vandalism by hoodlums, she drew their attention to the dilapidated nature of the facility.

Mrs. Umoidem further called on government, religious organizations, corporate bodies and the public to come to their aid.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of food items including a live cow and the donation of cash among others to the inmates.
