… Negotiates A Pack With Wike To Dislodge Udom
… Says APC Cannot Take Rivers, Akwa Ibom
The actual intention of what is termed ‘solidarity visit’ to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, as championed by the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has been uncovered.
Senator Akpabio, who recently led the Senate Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party, to insist that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must release the collated results of the March 19, 2016 rerun elections, said the victory recorded by the PDP in Rivers State is “A clear case of justice being done by God.”
He immediately had a closed door meeting with Governor Wike where, according to our source, he lamented the level of betrayal and disloyalty meted on him by his godson, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom.
The Senate Minority Leader reminded Wike of the benefits they enjoyed during their tenures as Governor and Minister as a result of the inseparable bond between them.
Our source said Senator Akpabio appealed to Wike to assist him (Akpabio) retain his political relevance in Akwa Ibom State, adding that the factors around Governor Udom are doing everything humanly possible to put him out of circulation.
“Akpabio wants Governor Nyesom Wike to assist him render Udom Emmanuel useless in terms of party structure. He is move by jealousy. He has notice the healthy relationship between Udom and Wike in recent times and he is not comfortable with it. He wants total control of the party structure in Akwa Ibom and perhaps, in the South-South. We all know it is not possible. Governors control political structures in their respective states. No Governor will want a Senator, no matter how sacred their relationship might be, to control the party structure. Akpabio did same as a Governor,” our source said.
Our source further said though Wike promised to support him achieve his dream he (Wike) declined to his quest to control the party structure in Akwa Ibom State, saying it was the exclusive right of the Governor.
Meanwhile, the Senate Minority Leader has regretted the sponsored propaganda by the opposition to destroy the image of Rivers and Akwa Ibom States, maintaining that there was no other political party in the states outside the PDP.
While making a donation of N1million through Governor Wike to the family of Samuel Okonta, a corps member who died during the Rivers State rerun elections, Senator Akpabio said the “All Progressive Congress (APC) cannot win elections in Akwa Ibom and Rivers States.”
