AKHA: SPEAKER PROMISES CONSTITUENTS ROBUST REPRESENTATION

Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has promised to give more support and robust representation to the people of Uruan State Constituency.

Rt. Hon. Bassey made the promise on Monday when the National Working Committee and Ward Coordinators of Uruan Progressive Peoples Forum (UPPF), a socio-political group, paid him a courtesy call at the Speaker’s Lodge, Uyo.

The Speaker, who thanked members of the group for visit and for the existing unity amongst them, lauded them for their unalloyed support to the Udom Emmanuel’s administration, adding that “UPPF has been his primary support base.”

He revealed that most of his key supporters, including the Director General of his Campaign Organization and delegates to the PDP Primaries that nominated him, came from UPPF.

Rt. Hon. Bassey further appreciated Governor Udom for his developmental strides in Uruan and called on the people to continually remain united, peaceful and steadfast to the present administration for more democratic dividends.

In his words: “This is one group that I cannot overlook. The Coordinator of the group is my friend. Members of this group did a lot during my Primaries and Election. You are my support base. Most of the delegates came from UPPF. I thank you for your support to the Governor because without him, the massive development we have witnessed in Uruan would not have been possible.”

He commended elders and stakeholders of Uruan for working to maintain peace in the area and ascribed his emergence as Speaker of the 7th Assembly to God and the support of his colleagues.

Earlier, the President of the group, Bishop Israel Udofia, said the visit was to formally felicitate their son, Rt. Hon. Bassey, on his emergence as Speaker of the 7th Assembly and to also express optimism that his elevation will ensure more development in Uruan and Akwa Ibom State in general.

While noting that the reign of Rt. Hon. Bassey as lawmaker has been largely peaceful, Bishop Udofia appealed to the Speaker to work closely with the group and sued for more support from the people of Uruan to enable their son succeed in his new assignment.

He reiterated the unwavering support of the group and the entire people of Uruan to the Governor Udom Emmanuel.

The Vice President, Hon. John EssienAbasi, members of the National Working Committee and Ward Coordinators of the group were present during the courtesy call.
