The Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Mr. Emmanuel Nicholas Okokon has passed a vote of confidence on AKEES.
He made this known yesterday at the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Technical Matters and Due Process, Elder Ufot Ebong after he made a tour of some of the various beneficiaries and common facilities of AKEES in the State.
Mr. Nicholas expressed satisfaction with what he saw on grounds and hoped more people will key into the scheme.
Reacting to the question ‘What Akwa Ibom people should expect from AKEES, the AKEES coordinator, Elder Ufot Ebong said “AKEES is a practical demonstration of the Dakkada philosophy” and urged unemployed youths to stop looking for favour from politicians but rise up to create wealth for themselves, even as AKEES is geared towards teaching and guiding people into being self-reliant.
Asked what his message on AKEES is to the Governor, Elder Ebong replied “Your Excellency, well skeptics didn’t believe this would work… Every single moment I worked with the AKEES team, I reminded them of what you said, ‘I want these jobs to be sustainable jobs, not something to deceive people and tomorrow we don’t see it again. I want them to be sustainable’…”
Talking about the present beneficiaries of AKEES, whom he also refers to as early birds, the Technical Matters boss said “these are the ones that will take advantage of the industrial boom in the state…” and he urged the people of Akwa Ibom to make themselves available and benefit also from AKEES.
