The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has felicitated Senator Helen Esuene on her 70th birthday celebration.
The Assembly helmsman gave the felicitation on Monday when he joined Governor Udom Emmanuel and other dignitaries within and outside the state at the Thanksgiving Service and Book Presentation in her honour at Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo.
Rt. Hon. Bassey, while congratulating the Senator, who is also a former Minister, on the success of the event, described her as a symbol of Peace and development.
According to the Speaker, Senator Esuene has “demonstrated abiding faith in development, unity, peace and progress of Akwa Ibom State.”
He also commended her for living a productive and exceptional live of humanitarianism and prayed God to grant her strength and more fruitful years.
The Speaker furthered urged citizens and political office holders to emulate the peaceful life style of Senator Esuene, whom he said, has contributed immensely to the development and progress of the Akwa Ibom and Nigeria.
The event had several dignitaries in attendance including former Head of State,
General Yakubu Gowon; former President Olusegun Obasanjo, represented by his wife, Bola Obasanjo; former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah; past and serving National and State Assembly Members; members of the State Executive, among others.
