The woes of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom state have been amplified with the defection of the Publicity secretary of the state chapter of the party, Obong Samuel Udobong.
Udobong, a founding member of the APC in the state, stormed into the Afaha Atai village hall during the PDP village to village local government campaigns to announce the pleasantly astonishing decision.
The APC stalwart who had never been a member of PDP since inception, said he was tired of the impunity and deceit that has rocked his party in recent times.
Udobong said he was impressed with Governor Udom Emmanuel and promised to join in mobilizing support for the party.
“With people like Frank Archibong and Governor Udom Emmanuel, PDP will continue to succeed in Akwa Ibom.”
The APC States spokesman, shredded his APC membership card, and other APC materials in his possession, to the admiration, applause and cheers of the PDP family.
Receiving the decampee, the chapter chairman of the PDP Obongiwaad Emman Mbong, the chairmanship candidate of the party, Hon. Frank Archibong, and a chieftain of the PDP, Obong Kingsley Mbre, commended the APC publicity secretary for standing on the side of truth.
Mr Archibong said he was only coming as a fore runner to ensure that Governor Emmanuel re-emerges as Governor in 2019.
The campaign team had earlier same day visited other villages in the Eket Central Ward 1, including Esit Urua, Idung Adia Okot, Ebana, Ede Obok, Iko Ekwa before finally anchoring at Idim Afia.
The chairman assured the people of his resolve to ensure that Eket people remain happy.
