ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE: ANIEKAN BASSEY LAUDS A’IBOM OFFICERS AT POLICE ACADEMY

 

Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has lauded the academic excellence put up by 18 indigenes of the state who graduated as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP II) during the Regular Course-2 of the Nigeria Police Academy.

 

Rt. Hon. Bassey, who received the newly commissioned officers in his office on Tuesday, expressed delight over their feat at the Academy, saying “it is a thing joy and gladness to have Akwa Ibom sons aspired to this height. This is in line with the Dakkada philosophy of Governor Udom Emmanuel.”

 

He assured them that the Udom Emmanuel’s administration will do its best to encourage and support sons and daughters of the state to take up responsibilities that will project Akwa Ibom positively in the comity of states.

 

The Speaker urged the new officers to continually exude excellence as they rise through the ranks in their career to become the next Etim Inyang of blessed memory.

 

Speaking, the leader of the team, ASP Dickson Emmanuel Etim, explained that the Regular Course, which was introduced into the Nigeria Police Force in 2013 by the Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, “admits qualified candidates into the Academy to study their choice discipline for five years and at completion, becomes ASP-II officers.”

 

He also appealed for “some levels of empowerment to alleviate the challenges faced by young officers after passing out including accommodation, mobility and logistics.”

 

While thanking the Speaker for his support and encouragement, ASP Etim said “a push to assist more Akwa Ibom indigenes gain admission into the Academy will also be highly valued knowing that in the near future; we are the breed of officers that will take charged.”
