Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel has called on parents to strive at all times to inculcate good morals in their children saying this would enable them become useful citizens in the society and make the parents reap from their labour.
The Governor made the call at Asaba International Airport, Delta State where he interacted with Akwa Ibom State Government House correspondents on his way back from the funeral Service of the mother of the Central Bank Governor, Late Mrs Alice Ohumagholem Emefele, conducted by Church Of Nigeria, Anglican Communion at the Bendel Hotel Grounds, Agbor, Delta State.
He stated that the deceased was a blessed woman who was painstaking in the upbringing of her children adding that her effort has paid off as she has produced a Child who has attracted a cream of the society to witness her transition.
Governor Emmanuel observed that man’s sojourn on earth does not depend on how long a person lives but how well he spend his days while alive and advised mothers to be good mothers by devoting their time to nurture their children in the ways of God knowing that the future is greater than the present.
The Governor consoled the bereaved family and the people of Agbor community on the demise of Madam Alice Emefele and urged the family to immortalize the legacies impacted on the family by the deceased.
The Chief mourner Mr Godwin Emefele, who described his late mother as a pillar of support to the family, expressed appreciation to the sympathizers for turning out in large numbers to give last respect to his late mother and particularly eulogized the deceased for her sterling qualities which he said has impacted positively on the family and attributed his elevation to her strong moral disposition.
At the well attended funeral, President Mohammadu Buhari was represented by the Secretary to the Federal Government, Engr. Babachir Lawal, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor Adam Osumole of Edo State, Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, and other dignitaries from all walks of life graced the occasion.
