Recently, there were media speculations that the present leadership of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly is sponsoring the APC candidate for Ibesikpo Asutan, Mr. Gabriel Akpan against the PDP Candidate, Mr. Aniekan Uko.
The leadership of the House of Assembly through the Speaker, Mr. Onofiok Luke, debunked such report during the Rerun rally at Ibesikpo Asutan saying members of the House of Assembly are in full support of their former colleagues whose election were nullified by the court of Appeal.
We can report that the present Caucus of the House of Assembly having failed; after sponsoring the opposition against Mr. Uko have started a media war against the former Speaker. The Nigerian Pulse, a newspaper owned by Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Print Media, Mr. Uko Umoh, is the platform for such campaign.
It’s either the newspaper would say “A group ask for Rt. Hon (Elder) Aniekan Uko not to be recognized as former Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Speaker or any other derogatory stories.”
More so, after joining in the reelection campaign of the four members of the House of Assembly last week, the leadership of the House of Assembly approved the printing of the Calendar and Dairy of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly excluding the pictures and profile of the four House Members whose election was annulled by the Court of Appeal.
One begins to wonder why is the leadership of the House of Assembly in a rush to print the Calendar and Dairy, one week to their colleagues’ reelection when they have been waiting for Funds over two months.
A House of Assembly Member who did not want his name mentioned said “If Onofiok really loved his ousted colleagues, he would have waited for their return, before ordering the printing of the Calendar and Dairy knowing that they would win the rerun elections, maybe the Speaker does not believe that Akwa Ibom State is a PDP state”
We can authoritatively report that the leadership of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly led by the speaker, Mr. Onofiok Luke is on a mission to belittle the former Speaker, Mr. Uko with his recent actions.
A Call to the Press Secretary to the Speaker for reaction proved abortive as his calls were not connecting. (Culled from Sitippe Ke Akwa Ibom)
