UDOM TO FLOAT MICRO CREDIT SCHEME FOR WOMEN
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State says arrangement to float a Micro Credit Scheme to enable Women access funds to grow their businesses has been concluded.
The Governor stated this during the Election Re-run Rally for Oron /Udung Uko State Constituency held at Oron Township Stadium.
He expressed appreciation to the people of Oron /Udung Uko State Constituency for their support saying that his commitment to the all round development of the state is sacrosanct.
Mr Emmanuel said that the road to link the area to the East West Expressway is on course alongside other road projects and urged them to vote for the return of Rt. Hon. Bassey Edet to the State House of Assembly in the re run election slated for Saturday 12th March 2016.
The State House of Assembly Speaker, Barister Onofiok Luke, thanked the Governor for the fulfillment of the promise to provide good road network in the Area as well as the intervention on the Gully Erosion which ravaged some roads in that Constituency and used the occasion to canvass support for the success of their member who was affected by the Appeal Court Judgment.
Also, the Senator representing Eket Senatorial District, Chief Nelson Effiong said that Oron Udung Uko State Constituency has never played opposition and assured that PDP is the Party to be voted in to the House of Assembly and none else.
Other Speakers at the well attended Rally including the former Minister for Lands and Housing , Mrs Akon Eyakenyi, Transition Chairman for Oron Local Government Council Oman Enin, assured that the re-run election would be conducted peacefully and that the Peoples Democratic Party will emerge victorious.
The Campaign train later visited Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area where the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, in response to the epileptic power supply experienced in recent times in the area, informed the people that an injection Sub-station would be established at Nung Oku ibesikpo to boost electricity supply.
He described electricity is an essential item of industrializationrally..2 saying it would also help in the urbanization of the area.
Governor Emmanuel pointed out that Ibesikpo Asutan was under Uyo Capital City Development Area and that every development in the state capital should spill over to the area.
He commended the Elders, Women , Youths and Peoples Democratic Party Stakeholders for the support given his administration and urged them to sustain the good governance by returning Mr Aniekan Uko to the House of Assembly .
At the rally, Barrister Onofiok Luke said all the members are in solidarity with Mr Aniekan Uko to return him to the fold and urged Ibesikpo Asutan people to ensure that the election is a done deal.
The Political Leader and Commissioner for Lands and Town Planning Mr Uwem Ita Etuk, said that the rerun is a no contest as the area is basically PDP. Similar goodwill messages were presented by the Transition Chairman Mr Ita Udo Mbon, PDP Chapter Chairman Mr Emmanuel Ukim and other Stakeholders.
The candidate Mr Aniekan Uko, expressed appreciation to the Governor, Members of the State Executive Council and the Legislators for the solidarity and pledged to give his Constituent effective representation with more empowerment package for the Youths, Women and Elders of the area when elected into the House.
