Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has described the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, as the only Akwa Ibom voice that the State has in the presidency, saying not even politics (political differences) would take away that fact.

Udom stated this on Friday at the public lecture to mark the Silver Jubilee anniversary of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

“He (Ita Enang) is the only one we have in the Presidency and no matter the level of politics, he remains our own because what matters at the end of the day is what you bring home”.

Also in his remarks same day during the gala and award night held at the Emerald Events centre, the Governor tasked Ita Enang to justify his position as Akwa Ibom representative in the presidency by drawing the attention of his boss, President Muhammadu Buhari to the current State of the multi billion naira Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria, ALSCON, which had since close down.

He said the resuscitation of the ALSCON plant located in Ikot Abasi which is currently lying waste would be in the overall interest of the state.

Delivering his remarks, the Presidential aide, Senator Enang praised the current leadership of the House of Assembly for deeming it fit to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the legislature, saying he was happy to identify with the celebration. Ita Enang who had served in the legislature from the local government level as Councilor from where he rose to the State Assembly and later National Assembly, described the legislature as an important arm of government that has represents the wishes and aspiration of the people.

Recalling his days in State legislature, Senator Enang observed that whatever achievement the State has recorded in the past years, would not be complete if the contribution of the legislature was not acknowledged, and described the celebration as well thought out.
