Can you recall a certain construction firm that was alleged to be the brainchild of the family of the former Governor of the state, now Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, called SINOENG Limited? The company had an office at Ewet Housing Estate, near Amity Hotels. The office is now occupied by Multi-Door Court house of the Judiciary.
That company, which was awarded a multi-million Naira contract for the construction of the Etebi-Ewang Road with the “longest bridge in Africa,” is now a subject of family tussle between the former First Lady, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio and the Governor’s brother, Nsentip Akpabio.
Impeccable sources close to Ibom Telegraph say the fight is in connection with the assets of the company, which could not do the famous Etebi-Ewang and closed down shortly after opening shop.
Mrs. Akpabio had an upper hand in the company as her sister, one Mrs. Pamela, is said to have been the Director. It is the same Pamela, according our source, that became a Director in the state owned oil firm, Universal Energy Resources Limited, which is an operator of the Stubb Creek Marginal Field, founded by former Governor Victor Attah during the resource control era, when Godswill Akpabio sold the firm to Seven Energy.
But Nsentip is said to have also been involved in the firm and handled most of the equipment purchase and recruitment.
Recently, Mrs. Unoma Akpabio is alleged to have tied to sell some of the equipment of the company which is kept at a site near Commissioner Emmanuel Enoiden’s residence at Shelter Afrique, to some Pakistan businessmen.
The Pakistan businessmen are said to have paid money running into millions of Naira to Mrs. Unoma Akpabio but Nsentip has stopped them from carrying the equipment from the site.
One of our sources confirmed the Pakistan businessmen are now battling to get their money back.
