2019: UKPONG-UDO LAUDS A’IBOM PEOPLE’S HONOUR, RESPECT FOR UDOM

A chieftain of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and frontline aspirant to the Ikono/INI House of Representatives’ seat, Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, has lauded the people of Akwa Ibom State for their unprecedented show of love, support, “honour and for the respect they have continued to accord Governor Udom Emmanuel, irrespective of political affiliations.
Briefing our reporter via telephone conversation at the weekend after he chaired the strategic PDP meeting in Ndiya/Usung Ikot Idaha (Ward-8), Ikono Local Government Area, where over 2000 persons were in attendance, Obong Ukpong-Udo expressed delight at the turbo-charged preparedness they have maintained, stressing that such uncommon commitment and dedication to the Udom Emmanuel’s leadership has brought peace and development to Akwa Ibom State.
Obong Ukpong-Udo disclosed that “Governor Udom Emmanuel’s believe and commitment to the Akwa Ibom project is unparalleled and with the level of support he has been receiving from the people, particularly during the event of his re-election declaration, he will certainly keep to his promise of providing Akwa Ibom people superior performance.”
He further said: “What happened at the Nest of Champions during Governor Udom Emmanuel’s re-election declaration was beyond political party affiliation. It was an Akwa Ibom event. His policy thrust was in tune with the yearnings and aspirations of the people. It was a family gathering. It was a unity event for the future of Akwa Ibom.”
“So people should stop playing little politics of ethnicity and self-centeredness. I have seen the hand of God in the Akwa Ibom project since its creation. So, we must at all point put the God-factor in our dealings, even in politics. Political party will come and go but Akwa Ibom will remain. Udom Emmanuel’s emergence in 2015 was as a result of God’s divine mandate. That mandate is still real and so 2019 cannot be otherwise,” he added.
Ukpong-Udo also appealed to the people of Ikono/INI Federal Constituency and the entire people of Akwa Ibom to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which according to him, has been extended by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
While urging his people to ensure they get their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), Ukpong-Udo said “the show of support and love for Governor Udom Emmanuel as demonstrated on Friday by the people of the state can only make meaning through our PVC. Let’s go get our PVC and it count during the forthcoming elections. It is going to be PDP all the way.”
